WHAT'S NEW

Without question, the past year, 2002, has been one of extraordinary change and continued growth, not only corporately for SMI, but also within the county clerk's offices themselves.

As with any election year, while most of the incumbents remain in office, many new faces come to take other's places. Certainly it was no different with 2002. As such, we welcome the new additions to the SMI family and extend best wishes to those who have partnered with us for many years in the past. For the first time, SMI provided election reporting to virtually all of our eCCLIX web sites, an application feature which was enthusiastically received by the public. We look forward to expanding that service in both 2004 and 2006 as the number of web sites increases. For more information, please contact the Sales Department.

Another exciting development is the introduction of the CCLIX-Archives product as a way for imaging sites to rapidly expand the number of document images on file for availability not only from the public inquiry stations in the courthouse but also across the internet. Using sophisticated "large volume" scanners, SMI is currently working with several county clerk's (Boone, Oldham, and Rowan and Shelby to name just four) to provide access to images so that 30 and/or 40 year title searches may be completed faster and easier. In addition, this product also makes it possible to preserve the older genealogical records (marriage licenses, wills, etc.) online, and thus eliminate the stress typically put on these documents as they are handled.
